National Television Show Features How to Build Concrete Countertops by Concrete Encounter How to build a concrete countertop will be featured on Ron Hazeltons HouseCalls in September. Learn all about this unique and wonderful material from expert Jeff Kuryluk of Concrete Encounter.
Editor's note: Jeff Kuryluk, a recent member of Concrete Connections, submitted the following press release. Jeff is an experienced concrete countertop maker and a true professional, and we're proud to have him as a member of Concrete Connections. We're also thrilled that a TV show is showing concrete countertops done by a professional, not a do-it-yourselfer. In mid-September, Concrete Encounter of Fairfield, Connecticut will be featured on Ron Hazeltons HouseCalls building a concrete countertop for a bathroom in Rons home. Concrete Encounters owner Jeff Kuryluk demonstrates step by step the process of building a pre-cast concrete countertop from template to installation on this national television program. "The misconception by most people is that a concrete countertop is easy to build," says Kuryluk. "But quite the opposite. We must make the piece strong, durable and stain resistant. There are a lot of man hours and many specialized materials incorporated into the concrete to give it these qualities." Throughout the show, Jeff and Ron go through the process of removing the old vanity top, templating the cabinet, building the countertop form, pouring, and then finishing the concrete. Concrete Encounters special admixture is used in the concrete to ensure structural stability and resistance to cracking while their concrete countertop sealer Super Seal gives Ron confidence that staining will not be an issue. Kuryluk is also very pleased with the increased awareness of concrete countertops. "HouseCalls is a national tv show which is watched by a lot of people. It is great to see concrete countertops getting the national recognition to boost its popularity." The people who are interested in concrete generally like the uniqueness of the product as every project is different with over 1500 colors from which to choose. Individuality can be expressed through the incorporation of custom inlays, drain boards, cutting boards, and whatever your imagination can conjure up.
