I need sealer help:

Concrete Countertop Sealers

From his very first concrete countertop, Jeff Girard has always made stain-proof concrete. The solution is simple: put a tough, high adhesion coating over simple concrete. Some high tech coatings available today look completely natural, provide good scratch resistance, and do not have delamination issues when applied properly. V-SEAL carries excellent coatings, and has concrete countertop expertise.

These high performance coatings take skill and practice to apply correctly, and they are expensive. However, Jeff's viewpoint has always been that the extra effort is worth the peace of mind of not having to worry about clients being disappointed at stained concrete countertops.

The Concrete Countertop Institute does not dictate the use of any particular sealer, nor do we sell proprietary sealers. We do recommend certain sealers and approaches, but the choice is yours. You may prefer an easy-to-apply treatment, and be willing to set clients' expectations that their countertops will stain. Whatever you do, test your sealer, know exactly how it performs and how it should be maintained and repaired, and communicate that clearly and in writing to your clients.

Extensive, free articles and videos about sealer chemistry, sealer testing, and particular sealers are available in our Concrete Countertop Sealer Success Kit.
