Fiber Optics in Concrete Countertops
Learn how to create unforgettable, high impact, and completely dazzling fiber optic concrete countertops!
CCI has partnered with Robert Sapp, the president of Coastal Concrete Counters and inventor of Illumistone(TM) fiber optic concrete countertops to offer this innovative class.
Imagine the possibilities when you learn to incorporate fiber
optics into your concrete designs:
- a random starfield in an outdoor kitchen countertop
- a swirl of lights in a restaurant bartop
- a flower design in a child's bathroom
- a corporate logo in a conference table
A separate illuminator provides the light — there is no electricity in the counter itself, so it is safe for outdoor and damp environments. Your clients can be assured that their countertop is safe and practical, and also that it is unforgettable, high impact, and completely dazzling!
What will I learn?
This is a one-day class that provides students with the knowledge and experience to make concrete counters containing fiber optic lighting effects. Adding fiber optics to concrete countertops may seem simple, but there are many tips, tricks and considerations. A hands on, in person class is the best way to learn quickly and thoroughly.
Rather than spending months experimenting with processes to produce high quality countertops containing customized fiber optic lighting effects, learn everything you need to know in one day. Immediately begin making dazzling, high impact pieces sure to wow your customers and blow away your competition.
If you are looking for a quick way to learn a technique that can give you an instant "wow factor" for your concrete countertop business, this class is ideal. A hands on, in person class is the best way to learn quickly and thoroughly.

Imagine showing a sample like THIS to a designer or having it at a home show. Fiber optics are like a magnet for customers!
Can I get more details about what is included in the class?
Each step of producing a fiber optic countertop is covered in detail. The "cooking show" method is used to get through all of the steps in one day.
In the class you will:
- learn the design considerations and constraints for effective use of fiber optic lighting in concrete countertops and surfaces
- understand the power and ventilation considerations and constraints
- learn the proper procedures for embedding fiber optic lighting in a mold
- learn how to place concrete into a mold containing fiber optic lighting, without disturbing the fiber optic cable
- know exactly how to terminate a fiber optic cable bundle and connect it to an illuminator unit safely
- learn how to finish a concrete countertop containing fiber optic lighting, so that you can create a high-quality finish that doesn't jeopardize the fiber optics
When you leave the class, you will completely understand how to make a fiber optic concrete countertop and can go home and start practicing.
You will also get a list of exactly what equipment you need and where to buy it (not from us - this class is about learning, not selling product).
